Start the Clock

Start the Clock

It’s Saturday night and the long day means that sleep is burning in my eyes with another long but fulfilling day promised tomorrow. Every moment that I’m awake, it burns a little more, but I can’t go to sleep just yet. I promised myself that I would launch this blog by January 15, 2017. As of right now, I have 48 minutes left to be a woman of my word—to myself—so here it goes.

After following God’s leading and attending the college that He had in mind for me, I learned that I had skills in written and oral communication. I can speak and write really well. For a while now, it’s been on my heart to start blogging. I think, read and journal so much that something was tugging on me to share what I’ve learned.

46 minutes.

As a recovering procrastinator, I’m a victim of my own deep analysis as I try to have everything figured out before starting, but tonight with 45 minutes left, I’m going to get like Nike and just do it. I’m realizing the importance of just acting. I’ve lost a lot of time in being overly cautious. At the same time, I won’t compromise my commitment to excellence and that’s what I want to bring to you. I am so excited to share with you through this blog, my thoughts, encouragement and experiences regarding:

  • God—What does it mean to serve God and live as a follower of Jesus Christ in this cultural climate? I spend a lot of time talking to God and want to share the encouragement, hope and strength I’ve found in Him.
  • Singleness—Being single isn’t easy and there’s a whole new level when you’re talking about Godly singleness. What does it mean to be a single person for God? How do you honor Him with that time? It’s possible and it’s great.
  • Music—I love music and am always looking for something new. Sometimes a song will evoke such strong imagery and emotion that I have to put it into words. Keep following; you may discover something new.
  • Photography—I love to capture the moments that you thought were gone. I’ll share some photographic evidence of my life.
  • Food—I learned how to cook because I was hungry. I love food. I’m always exploring what my city has to offer, same with my kitchen.
  • Ministry—This connects to God up above. Once you have a personal relationship with Him, it’s essential to get plugged into a local church and contribute in some way. Your sense of ownership over your church membership and relationship with God can skyrocket. Ministry can be draining, but it is so rewarding. These are my experiences as someone wearing 50-11 different hats in her small but growing church.
  • Everything in between—Part of what took me so long to start this blog is that I am interested in so many different subjects. Nearly everything is fascinating to me so nearly everything is subject to be a post.

If you’re interested in knowing more about any of those, than you’re in the right place. Join me weekly as I update this space with my thoughts or a word and navigate this new section of my life with the goal of helping you get closer to who God created you to be and where He wants you to be.
